Our commitment

Holliday's Mini Storage is committed to making our website and our storage facility accessible to people with disabilities. We believe everyone — including customers using assistive technology, customers with mobility limitations, and older customers — deserves a straightforward way to rent and access a storage unit.

Standard we aim for

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and neurological.

What we've done on this website

Specific steps taken so far on hollidaysministorage.com:

• Semantic HTML structure with proper landmarks (header, main, footer, navigation)
• A "Skip to main content" link for keyboard and screen reader users
• Clear, visible focus styles when navigating by keyboard
• Descriptive alt text on photos that convey information
• Decorative images marked as decorative so they aren't announced by screen readers
• Color contrast between text and backgrounds checked against WCAG AA ratios
• Responsive layout that works on phones, tablets, and desktop screens
• Text that scales when the browser font size is increased, without breaking layout
• Touch targets sized for fingers, not just cursors
• Forms and interactive elements labelled clearly
• Respect for the user's "reduce motion" system preference
• A descriptive title on the embedded Google Map

Accessibility at the facility

Our Lancaster facility was built with practical, drive-up access in mind, which helps with most mobility needs:

• Paved, level drive aisles between buildings — no curbs to navigate around units
• Roll-up doors on every unit that lift smoothly with one hand
• Drive-up access right to your unit, so you can park, load, and unload without stairs or long carries
• Well-lit grounds for safer access during low-light hours
• If you'd like a unit reserved in a specific location (closer to the gate, on a particular row, etc.), just let us know when you call

Known limitations

We're a small business and we're working on this continuously. Some areas we know still need attention:

• Embedded Google Map — the third-party map widget on our home page is controlled by Google. Its accessibility depends on Google's own implementation. The map's address and a Google Maps link are also presented in plain text on the same page as a fallback.
• Customer photos — older photos from when the facility was first built may have less descriptive alt text than newer images. We're updating these as we refresh photography.
